IDTA Examinations – Dance and Musical Theatre

Dancers and Musical Theatre students have the opportunity to take examinations and gain awards to recognise their hard work, training and progression. We have Presentation Evenings after Exams where the children are presented with their Certificates and Medals. This is always an exciting event for our Dancers and parents too!

Exams start from age 3 with Rosette Awards for our tiny tots, these are relaxed, simple exams where the children perform a group dance routine accompanied by Miss Jazz or Miss Tasha. This allows our younger dancers to feel comfortable and confident in an exam situation and they are rewarded with certificates, sashes and Rosettes.

Dancers and Musical Theatre Students can then progress through the various Grades up to and including professional exams. All students are fully prepared prior to entering Exams, and whilst not compulsory, most love an opportunity to demonstrate and be rewarded for what they have learned in class.

IDTA - The Examination Board we teach is the International Dance Teachers Association. One of the longest established Dance Examination boards, the IDTA was initially founded as the Dance Teacher’s Association in 1903 and later merged with the International Dancing Masters Association to became incorporated as the IDTA in 1967 and now boasts members in 55 different countries. Furthermore, the IDTA is recognised by the national qualification regulators Ofqual.
